Improv Comedy Club and Dinner Theatre

Christmas came early for Atlanta this year with a new Improv Comedy Club and Dinner Theatre which recently opened in the heart of Buckhead at East Andrews. The entry way into the theater is a time capsule of past comedians.  A television displays, "An Evening at the Improv" building anticipation of what's to come.  Large photos of comics are displayed along the entrance hallway. Walking into the 4,000 square foot theater your attention is drawn to the stage containing a piano and the signature red brick wall.  The comedy and dinner club offers a wide variety of food and drinks while enjoying the show.  Improv is the only comedy club that has fresh sushi on their menu!

The famed comedy club was founded in 1963 in NYC and then opened its second location in Hollywood. For more than half a century, The Improv has been the launching pad for such comics as Richard Pryor, Billy Crystal, and Lily Tomlin, Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfield, Tim Allen, Ellen Degeneres, Jamie Foxx and Dave Chappelle. Atlanta is The Improv’s 24th location. The food at The Improv is very diverse. Not only can you order from one restaurant, but you can choose which restaurant you want to order from in the Andrews Entertainment District. From varying restaurants such as; bistro plates from Cellar 56, pub fare from Stout Irish Pub, and sushi from Czar Ice Bar. No matter what you’re craving for the menu has something for everyone from nachos to quesadillas, burgers and wraps. General admission starts at $15 with a 2 drink minimum.

Improv also hosts “Welcome to the Stage” where kids perform amazing comedy. Kids Comedy Korner is a television show hosted by Denisha Gillespie. This show is an hour reality talent competition that entertains the audience and educated the contestants. Each week the contestants learn skills to create and perform comedy from comedians and acting coaches. Quincy Bonds coaches the contestant’s one on one. They are critiqued and guided on their upcoming performances. On this one week preparation the stage is set for a live performance the very next day. The Improv's next show will be tomorrow December 6th featuring, Sean Patton, who has been seen on Jimmy Fallon's Late Night Show.

Yard House Atlantic Station

Yardhouse is Atlanta's newest restaurant for all beer lovers.Yardhouse is known for its extensive American fusion menu, from 100 to 250 taps of draft beer and it's lunch and late night happy hour. Their menu features more than 130 items including soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta and rice dishes, steak and poultry as well as a selection of fresh seafood and include gluten sensitive options as well as vegetarian dishes made with gardein™.

In addition, Yardhouse offers a selection of small, shareable plates from its Snack menu along with select, full-size appetizers offered at half price weekdays Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and late-night Sunday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to close.

As you walk in you are greeted by a host(ess) who will guide you to your table. Located in the middle is a bar with as many beer taps you can imagine and flat screen tv's in each corner of the restaurant and if you choose not to sit inside there is a patio. Yardhouse features a glass-enclosed Keg Room housing hundreds of steel barrels. The beer is transported from this location through a series of overhead steel and nylon tubing, which feeds into the 130 taps at the center island bar.

 California Roll
YARDHOUSE California Roll. It may not look like what you expect, but this roll is big enough for two and very tasty. Layered with avocado, fish roe, snow crab, and rice. Yardhouse also features the Spicy Tuna Roll.

Traditional Wings
During happy hour these delicious wings are half off.
 Grilled Sweet Korean Beef
This dish, I think, is the best on the appetizer menu, but can be also ordered as an entree. The beef is cooked  to perfection. It comes with a choice of Jasmine or brown rice with a side of Korean vegetable salad and to make it a little sweeter I asked for the "Aloha" sauce which gives the dish a sweet and tangy flavorful taste.

Yardhouse is definitely the restaurant to go to catch a game on the big screen while drinking an ice cold beer and kicking it with friends. Even for a date, the Yardhouse is set with a great ambiance during the evening time.

Yard House, located at 261 19th Street at Atlantic Station in Atlanta, is open daily from 11 a.m. for lunch, dinner and late-night dining. The restaurant is situated at the corner of Atlantic Drive and 19th Street near Stairway 1. For more information, call 404.815.8990 or www.yardhouse.com.
